GRIDS
When I started making stained glass, I was very interested in mosaic, and in tile patterns. I spent a lot of time studying design motifs, and grid symmetries, from all over the world. Eventually, on an Inka tunic of the 1480s, I found one I really liked.
My grid windows are based on a five-square module. The pattern is potentially infinite. I love that they are textiles. I do not think I would understand stained glass in the same way, if I had not started with textiles.
These were some of my first windows. I would love to make more of them.
